New Jersey is in the midst of a population boom. As more and more people move here, roadways will become increasingly crowded. Overcrowded roadways are a recipe for auto accidents. These days, just going for a short drive can potentially result in a serious or fatal crash. Drivers must stay focused at all times behind the wheel. Two-Vehicle Crash Recently, a two-vehicle crash in Toms River resulted in the death of one person and critically injured two others. The accident happened during the morning hours at the intersection of Route 37 and Oak Ridge Parkway. According to reports, the driver of a westbound vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed on Route 37 and ran the red light at the intersection. Reports said the westbound vehicle slammed into a vehicle that was headed south on Oak Ridge Parkway. Tragedy Authorities said two occupants in the southbound vehicle were critically injured and rushed to a local hospital. Reportedly, the driver of the westbound vehicle was also badly injured and died a short time later at the hospital. Police said this was the third fatal crash so far this year on Route 37 in Toms River. Motor vehicle accidents are one of the leading causes of injury and death across the country. A serious or fatal auto accident can happen without warning and in the blink of an eye. Those in New Jersey who have suffered injuries or the loss of a loved one due to negligence in auto accidents have the right to pursue damages by contacting a skilled litigator. A lawsuit, if successful, can supply victims and families with much needed and deserved compensation.

A tragic crash has claimed the life of a 9-year-old child, according to sources in Lakewood. The New Jersey State Police responded to the crash and are still trying to determine the cause of the auto accident. No charges have been filed as information continues to be collected. What Reportedly Took Place at The Accident Scene? According to the very limited information gathered by police so far, it appears that, around 10:17 p.m. the night of Nov. 21, a single vehicle was traveling on entrance ramp 89A toward GSP south when the accident happened. For reasons that have yet to be determined, the vehicle left the road before overturning. A 9-year-old boy from Beachwood sustained fatal injuries after being ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead. No information was provided about the driver or any other passengers who might have been in the vehicle. Police have not ruled out negligence, recklessness or even intoxication at this point. The crash will remain under investigation until such time as these questions are answered to the satisfaction of law enforcement. Those Who Lose Loved Ones in These Instances Have Legal Rights Depending on the outcome of this investigation, the driver (should they have survived) may face criminal charges for their role in the auto accident leading to the child’s death. New Jersey law also allows the family of the child to file further civil complaints in the form of a wrongful death lawsuit. This can even occur if the driver and the child share a familial relationship.

An underage woman has been arrested after allegedly crashing her vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, according to local law enforcement. Police in Berkeley Township, New Jersey, conducted the arrest of the 20-year-old woman. She now faces DUI charges among several other traffic-related offenses. What Reportedly Happened? The information provided in the report is incomplete, but it appears that, at around 1:45 a.m. the morning of Nov. 1, police responded to reports of an accident on Hickory Lane and Route 9. When they arrived, they found the 20-year-old driver had struck a utility pole with enough force to sever the pole from its base. The pole fell onto Buckley Lane and also caused a power surge that disabled several traffic lights. The road was closed for several hours as a result of the damage. The driver was injured in the crash, but the type and severity of her injuries were not reported. She was arrested on site and charged with reckless and careless driving, failure to maintain a lane, failure to produce insurance and DUI. The report did not mention what led officers to charge her with DUI, as there was no mention of roadside, breath or blood testing. Help and Support Is Available when Facing These Charges A DUI charge is enough for a New Jersey resident to lose her license, and possibly her freedom as well. This is why her defense attorney will carefully review the details of her case, particularly the events of the investigation and her subsequent arrest. If police did not follow due process or in any way infringed on the woman’s rights during this process, the charges could be reduced or the case thrown out entirely.
